James Cook, aka "Cap'n" is a multi-instrumentalist/bassist/writer and producer based out of Nashville, TN. His talents can be heard on many projects and stages with many of today's top artists. His skills in the studio as a bassist, vocalist and engineer have been on countless songs.

Currently, James can be found in and around Nashville at one of many recording studios, laying down bass tracks for some of Nashville's hit songwriters. He owns and operates "Studio On The Ridge", his own recording studio out in beautiful Pegram, Tennessee.  James is producing and writing with many up and coming artists from all parts of the USA.

On stage and in the recording studio, James has toured/recorded/performed with Tracy Byrd, Steve Wariner, The Doobie Brothers, Jason Aldean, Jace Everett, Jedd Hughes, Matt King, Rhett Akins, Brad Martin, Sarah Buxton, Al Perkins, Sam Bush, Victor Wooten, Josh Thompson, Thompson Square, Easton Corbin, Rodney Crowell, Vince Gill, Joanna Cotten, James Burton, Howard Shaft, and The Box Tops to names a few. James writes and produces music for Television and DVDs. Some of his music can be heard on GAC’s “Headline Country” with host Storme Warren.

James has made several television appearances on a stream on hit TV shows such as: The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, Jimmy Kimmel Live, Ellen Degeneres, Jimmy Fallon, The Today Show, Conan O'Brian, Regis and Kelly, America's Got Talent, Good Morning America, The Bachelor, several music videos and countless appearances on The Grand Ole Opry.

In 2005, James was signed to Sony Nashville with a band called Stone. Soon after their short stint with Sony, He joined a few of his best friends to form the band, THE LEVEES. The Levees soon became a well known band around Nashville for thier high-energy shows. This attracted many writers and artists to employ the band to back them up in the studio and the road.

James grew up in Monroe, Louisiana - the Northeast portion of the state. He studied music at the University of Louisiana in Monroe, formerly known as NLU. While working towards his degree in saxophone, he honed his skills at bass, guitar, percussion and whatever else he could get his hands on. James played in many bands playing styles of music from jazz, blues, rock, pop, country, and funk.

For over the past 12 years, James has been touring with Capital recording artist, Luke Bryan. Luke has been won many ACM and CMA awards and has an amazing  23 number one hits on Country Radio with “Do I”, “Rain is a Good Thing”, “Someone Else Calling You Baby”, "Country Girl (Shake it for Me)", "I Don't Want This Night To End", "Drunk On You", "Kiss Tomorrow Goodbye", "Crash My Party" and "Huntin' Fishin' and Lovin' Every Day", as well as many more.
